Default How to Boot Into Safe Mode

How does one boot the unit into this 'safe mode' I read others speaking of. It is not in the instruction book and Google yields no results.

I dont think there is such thing for this device. I've looked for it too but never found a way to do it, unless maybe you have to do it with a serial connection which would require soldering into the main board

so unfortunately I've been having issues with my NAS (similar to the one described here but worse: http://www.patriotmemory.com/forums/...ontains-Errors)

and as a result I've learned how to boot into safe mode, simply have the reset button pressed as the unit is resetting or powering up.

For me, it never worked on the first try when the unit was powering up for the first time. I powered down using the power button, using a paper clip to hold down the reset button, then pressed the power button again.

FYI, all the safe mode allows you to do is upload a firmware update file, but so far every time I tried uploading one it told me it was invalid (I tried both available firmwares). I tried this using chrome, now I'm trying using internet explorer and so far it's just saying "System busy. Please wait..."

    edit:

It would power on and the 4 hdd activity lights would flash from hdd1 to hdd4 once every 2 min or so and lan led lights up; the status light stays a red or amber color.

So you ignore the message on the Dashboard that there is no volume, Create a Volume. Go to Web Interface under File Mangement and RAID, run recover. The RAID volume was restored.

That said, I strongly STRONGLY recommend backing up the data before the move if it is at all possible.
You'll be fine as long as you choose the option to recover the array and not create\allocate the size of a new array when you put the drives in the new enclosure

Thanks! ...but how did this actually get stickied? Is someone from Patriot actually semi-active in these forums?

What do you do if you try to recover the array and nothing happens? The only message in the system log is:

"Failed to recover the configuration from RAID!"

I can't re-root the device to get into it via telnet, as the File & Print tab is disabled with the message "The file system contains errors. Please check file system status." Checking the file system status says everything is OK.
